Reed Anderson
Reed Anderson’s autopoietic works are rooted in historic botanic textile patterns, graphic design principles, and color abstraction. Begun as large hand-cut paper stencils, each stencil is repeatedly folded and painted upon itself in confounding patterns. The resulting work is both the tool and the object of its own creation.
Reed has been exhibiting his work nationally and internationally for over 25 years. His work is in public collections that include: The Museum of Modern Art (NYC), Gift of the Judith Rothschild Foundation Contemporary Drawings Collection, Olbricht Collection, Essen, Germany, The West Collection, Philadelphia, PA, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Francesca von Hapsburg, Austria, The Birchfield Penney Art Museum, Buffalo, NY among other private collections.. Reed was awarded a Mass Cultural Council: Artist Fellowship in 2018.
